IDB Invest launches the public consultation of its new Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy

IDB Invest, a member of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group, is updating its Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy. IDB Invest made the new draft policy available for public consultation on June 17th, 2019 and will receive comments for a period of 120 days. The draft policy is now available on IDB Invest’s website in the institution’s four official languages: Spanish, English, French and Portuguese.

The proposed new policy seeks to reaffirm IDB Invest’s commitment to environmental and social sustainability, making updates to reflect IDB Invest’s renewed vision and current practices and focusing on a single set of standards.

The objective of the public consultation is to establish a transparent and constructive dialogue that allows IDB Invest to listen to the suggestions of interested parties and give everyone the opportunity to contribute to improve the policy.

The consultation will include virtual and face-to-face dialogue with interested parties. In addition, to face to face meetings, interested persons are invited to share their comments on the proposed policy through the virtual consultation process that will take place through the IDB Invest website.

The calendar of face-to-face meetings of the consultation, which will take place in various Latin America and the Caribbean countries as well as in Washington, D.C., is now available to the public on this website.

Once the consultation process is closed and after the approval by the IDB Invest Board of Directors, the new IDB Invest Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy will be made available to the public. After its adoption, it will replace the current Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy, which dates back to 2013. A summary of the key comments to be received during the consultation along with a description of the consultation process will be shared together with the approved policy.
