Julia Johannsen is a Representative of the IDB Group in Bolivia, she has a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Göttingen in Germany. She joined the Inter-American Development Bank in 2008 and since then she has worked in the Social Protection and Health Division of the Social Sector, where she has led the dialogue and operational work with counterparts in several countries on public policy issues. Before assuming the Country Office in Bolivia, she was Sector Lead Specialist in Social Protection in Ecuador, where she worked since 2015. Previously, she was Senior Social Protection Specialist in Bolivia for the period 2010-2015
The private sector can help strengthen the recent progress of the Plurinational State of Bolivia on gender issues, as well as complementing the government's efforts for post-pandemic economic recovery and the role of women both in labor participation and through the enterprises they lead.
