This publication examines how a advanced technologies—including artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced analytics, automation and robotics, digital twins, blockchain-based traceability, and new process innovations—are reshaping the mining of critical minerals in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Drawing on an analysis of projects in the region’s main producing countries, the study identifies emerging patterns in technology adoption and outlines the key benefits associated with digitalization, including improved operational performance, cost efficiencies, enhanced worker safety, and progress toward sustainability through more efficient use of clean energy and water, as well as optimized resource extraction and recovery processes.
