Project scope and objective
The main objective of the Project is to support the construction of the Howard I and Sabanitas II Water Treatment Plants in the districts of Arraiján and Colón, Panama, and to provide Acciona and the Consortium with the financial flexibility needed to complete execution within the planned timeline, while ensuring operational continuity and minimizing the likelihood of any financial setbacks.
The implementation of this Project aims to improve deficiencies in the drinking water service provided to the population of Panama, particularly in the districts of Arraiján and Colón, and to expand its coverage in the areas impacted by the initiative

Early disclosure
For projects with high environmental or social risk an Environmental and Social Strategy (ESS) is prepared early on during the project appraisal and prior to carrying out the environmental and social due diligence (ESDD). The ESS includes the initial E&S risk categorization and a brief description of potential Performance Standards applicable to the project. The ESS for this project is available below. Together with the ESS, IDB Invest also provides access to the client’s preliminary E&S documents that will be reviewed during the ESDD.
