Project scope and objective
In 1994, the IIC approved a US$1.6 million loan to Tahuamanu S.A., with final maturity 10/15/04, with the objective of financing the company's first industrial plant for processing Brazil Nuts. The project was implemented successfully and the company outperformed the production and sales targets agreed on the project.
The purpose of this project is to provide financing to Tahuamanu for completion of its investment program aiming at:
- obtaining HACCP certification, which will enable it to be deemed a reliable supplier to the food industry in the USA, Canada and European countries; and
- increase its production capacity from 135,000 boxes of Brazil Nuts per year to 180,000 boxes per year.
The project calls for investments in civil works, machinery and equipment.
