Project scope and objective
The transaction consists of a loan to acquire a fleet of 229 electric buses and build the charging infrastructure associated with the provision of the mass transportation service in the Usme area of the city of Bogotá, capital district of Colombia, following the concession contract. N° 108 of 2021 signed between Empresa de Transporte del Tercer Milenio - Transmilenio S.A., manager of the public mass transport service system in the city and Usme ZE S.A.S. The approximate cost of the project is up to US$92 million and it is expected to have a participation of up to US$31 million or equivalent in Colombian pesos.
The project will make it possible to replace part of the Transmilenio public transport fleet, from diesel buses to electric buses, reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality and serving as an example for the region.

Environmental and social review
IDB Invest conducts an environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) commensurate with the nature, scale, and stage of the project, and with its level of environmental and social risks and impacts. The ESDD will confirm the project E&S categorization and assess the project with respect to the client requirements in IDB Invest Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy. The results of the ESDD, including any identified gaps are described in the Environmental and Social Review Summary (ESRS) provided below. For projects approved as of 2016, any gaps with respect to IDB Invest's Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy at the time of the ESDD are addressed in the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) presented below, to comply with the date mentioned above.
