Project scope and objective
The project consists of a loan of US$6,000,000 to Banco de Occidente. The loan will have a term of up to 7 years, including a grace period of up to 2 years. The funds of the loan will be used in medium and long-term on-lending to small and medium-size companies, whose majority shareholding is Latin American or Caribbean, and which operate in productive sectors of the Guatemalan economy. IIC meets its goal of supporting the development of small and medium-size companies through working with a sound Guatemalan bank. In addition, the IIC funding will support the stability of the Guatemalan banking system, by providing medium and long-term financing, which in Guatemala is relatively scarce.
