• It is IDB Invest’s first bond issue denominated in COP since the reorganization of its private sector operations

IDB Invest, the private sector institution of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group, issued a bond under the private placement format of its global emissions program (EMTN) in Colombian pesos for a total of $144 thousand million Colombian pesos (equivalent to $50 million dollars), to promote the economic development of Latin America and the Caribbean through the private sector.

The local currency bond maturing in 2025 reaffirms the interest of international investors for issuers of high credit quality such as IDB Invest (AAA Fitch, AA + S & P, Moody's) and serves as a platform to attract international finance to the region and meet the growing demand of clients in local currencies.

It is IDB Invest’s tenth bond issue, the third in Colombian pesos to date, and the first since the reorganization of its private sector operations in 2016. The issuance is part of IDB Invest’s local currency capacity expansion strategy to provide more financing flexibility to its clients.

Since 2016, IDB Invest has approved more than $960 million in Colombia, financing private sector activities that contribute to the country’s development in areas such as infrastructure, financial institutions, and corporates. Additionally, IDB Invest has mobilized additional financing for Colombia from other investors and co-loans for approximately $706.2 million. As IDB Invest expands its operations in Colombia, its Bogotá office will grow to better serve clients and have a greater impact on development.
