Project scope and objective
A Bioenergética Aroeira S.A. (ou, “Aroeira”) atua na produção de açúcar, etanol e cogeração de energia elétrica, estando localizada no estado de Minas Gerais. A Aroeira iniciou investimentos da ordem de R$308 milhões, objetivando o aumento de sua capacidade anual de processamento de cana em aproximadamente 33%, para cerca de 4 milhões de toneladas, e comcomitantemente seu suprimento de cana e capacidade de armazenagem. Os investimentos também permitirão elevar em 40MWH sua cogeração de energia elétrica total, cujos excedentes serão comercializados.
O apoio pretendido do Group BID consiste de um financiamento de longo prazo de até R$250 milhões na modalidade A/B, dos quais até R$170 milhões na forma de empréstimo A e um montante em dólares equivalente a até R$80 milhões na forma de empréstimo B a ser sindicalizado pelo BID Invest. Além de impactos econômicos positivos resultantes de sua implantação, iniciativas de natureza socioambiental e governança corporativa constituem parte do escopo de apoio proposto pelo grupo BID, potencializando as adicionalidades do referido projeto.

Environmental and social review
IDB Invest conducts an environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) commensurate with the nature, scale, and stage of the project, and with its level of environmental and social risks and impacts. The ESDD will confirm the project E&S categorization and assess the project with respect to the client requirements in IDB Invest Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy. The results of the ESDD, including any identified gaps are described in the Environmental and Social Review Summary (ESRS) provided below. For projects approved as of 2016, any gaps with respect to IDB Invest's Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy at the time of the ESDD are addressed in the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) presented below, to comply with the date mentioned above.
